The rising interest in the use of
renewable energetic sources, as well as the several years experience in the high specialized aluminium field, have led ALMECO, in cooperation with a pool of Companies, to the creation of the FREeSUN project.
Developed in the contest of Industria 2015 - Efficienza Energetica, this project foreshadows the setting up of a 1MW electric power FRESNEL like Concentrator solar thermal plant.
In such systems, the solar radiation is concentrated upon a fixed linear pipe able to absorb the incident Energy; the pipe itself contains a thermo-carrier fluid used to power a steam turbine generating electric energy.
The solar radiation is reflected by a series of slightly curved concentrator mirrors, automated to track the daily solar motion, in order to increase the energy captured during the whole day. To avoid the loss of the light reflected by the primary surfaces, a secondary reflector, placed over the absorber, re-concentrate the rays upon the pipe.

In the global framework of the generation of electric Energy by renewable sources, solar concentration systems can have an important rule in the reduction of greenhouse gases, in line with the aims established by the UE for 2020.
The plant set up, will be the first installation of this kind, working on our National territory, furthermore, it will be one of the first worldwide; it will also represent an excellent starting point for the creation of a high technology production chain.
ALMECO has taken care of the development and complete creation of reflecting surfaces, both primary and secondary, facing several different problems, from the resistance to temperature to the resistance to atmospheric agents.
ALMECO R&D Department is constantly engaged in the realization of long life surfaces characterized by reference optical performances.
The project is expected to last 36 months on the whole, the first 2 years will be dedicated to the industrial research applied to the development of the components and to the production of the relevant prototypes; the following 12 months will be employed in the setting up of the production plant.
